What a day to be a dork I tell ya. Lucky enough for me, I was visiting my girlfriend during one fateful weekend when I had received a phone call from my brother Joey. He asks, "Hey Bo, have you ever met some guy called Bruce Campbell?"
And, it just so happened the day that Bruce would be there, was my last day I was planning on staying in Florida. I was giddy as a lil bitch, not only would I be able to meet a cult icon, see my girlfriend and now my brother - but I'd also stand a great chance to get Bruce's autograph. Which in dork sense of the word, is like getting the pelt off an endangered species.
Something I made for "the Evil Dead Collab". It never came to be. but you all can at least see my part!
It’s not uncommon for Hollywood blockbusters to take to the stage in a musical rendition (good example: The Producers; bad example: Carrie). For this Adaptation Analysis, we take a look at the classic horror film series The Evil Dead and its transition to musical theatre.
Few in the past would have thought that a horror film series, notorious for its over-the-top humor and context, would make for an appropriate bit of theatre — that is, until the concept of theatre was put onto its ear and forced to re-evaluate just what it’s capable of, thus opening the door for a hilarious musical with singing demons, dancing killer trees, and a blood splatter zone that would make anyone with a Sledge-o-matic jealous.

Bruce Campbell, as well as UK critics/pundits Mark Kermode, Emily Booth and Muriel Gray, explain why Evil Dead is the 12th most scary film of all time according to Channel 4.
The good news for Legend of the Seeker fans is that the series will have a presence at this years San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday July 23rd (exact time to be confirmed).
The bad news is that all four days of the Comic-Con are now booked out including July 23rd, so if you don’t already have tickets, then you’ve missed out on attending.
This year Sam Raimi’s new series Spartacus: Blood and Sand will also have a presence at Comic-Con. The cast of Spartacus: Blood and Sand includes Legend of the Seeker star Craig Parker (aka Darken Rahl) and so odds might be a little higher that both Sam Raimi and Craig Parker could make an appearance.
Aside from the all-star Charlotte cast that makes you question what they’re doing in Charlotte, one of the best things about the play was the special effects — there was blood spurting out, talking decapitated heads, chainsaws cutting people up, and walking chopped off hands. And said Special FX make-up came compliments of Melissa Brown and Martin Berry.
But Evil Dead is only alive thru June 27, so be sure to go see it this weekend — it’s on Stonewall right up from the “Aquarium”
The British trailer for Sam Raimi's third entry of the Evil Dead trilogy, starring Bruce Campbell as Ash. This trailer has not been included on any of the film's many DVD releases.
Actor Ted Raimi will tell you anything you want to know about "Spider-Man 4," but he claims he'll have to kill you afterward.

Raimi, brother of "Spidey" director Sam Raimi, is in Palm Springs where his own directorial effort will screen at the Palm Springs International ShortFest.
"My Treat" is about two women arguing in a restaurant. It's the cinematic adaptation of a skit by two friends, the comedy team of Suzanne Keilly and Kirsten Roeters.

Scott Spence's production of the inspired-by-campy-B movies Evil Dead: The Musical was expected to do well, so Spence built an extended run into the schedule when he cast the show. But it's done even better than that, and in a rare stroke of theatrical serendipity, Evil Dead has been held over a second time — through July 26, including an 11 p.m. performance Friday, July 19. The other performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 p.m. Sundays, with no performance July 4, at Beck Center for the Arts Studio Theatre (17801 Detroit Ave., Lakewood, beckcenter.org, 216.521.2540). Will pay good money for Evil Dead on cassette (was this ever released on disk?). I want one that at least has it's paper slip with the artwork on it, I dont want just the cassette with no cover or any thing.

I've been delving into Bill Warren's book The Evil Dead Companion over the last couple days and i've learned a lot of interesting facts about the trilogy and i've decided to turn those facts into another little game. So below you will find five Evil Dead related stories ; four are fact and only one is fiction. Your job is to figure out which one has been made up by yours truly. There's no prize this go around but if you want a free prize, you still have through this Friday to enter my Kevin Smith contest! Being that there's no prize to be won here, I kindly ask you to not try and look up these facts on Google. It's only for fun, so lets see who can really pick out the fake without cheating! Good luck!
1. Among the many titles that were considered for the original film, before Evil Dead was chosen, was 'These Bitches Are Witches'.
2. Coinciding with its initial release, a line of 100 limited edition Army of Darkness posters were printed up with a small vial of Bruce Campbell's blood mixed in with the red ink.
3. Freddy Krueger's famous razor glove can be seen hanging on the wall in the work shed in Evil Dead 2.
4. Richard Domeier, who played Ed in Evil Dead 2, is now a host on QVC.
5. The cabin that Evil Dead was filmed in was believed to be haunted/cursed, with many deaths and strange phenomena linked to it. The cabin has since mysteriously burnt to the ground.

Could the San Diego Comic-Con TV lineup get any better? Well, it just did.
Mikkel Bondesen, one of the USA show's executive producers, announced on his Twitter feed Sunday that "Burn Notice" will be doing a panel at the annual pop-culture extravaganza. According to Bondesen, the panel will feature Bruce Campbell, who plays the generally awesome Sam Axe, and "all the writers."
A few of you might remember hearing about this project. It made headlines when we wrote about how Sam Raimi and Tom Cruise would be working together on an adaptation of Ed Brubaker's Sleeper comic book series. Since that story hit in August of last year, we haven't heard anything since, not a word about it, even in all the excessive Tom Cruise updates. So is the project dead in the water? Not exactly. MTV talked with author Ed Brubaker and got a few interesting updates and other funny quotes. "I talked to one of the producers a couple of weeks ago, and they have a new screenwriter that they hired," Brubaker told MTV.

Prolific character actor Ted Raimi recently took some time out of his busy schedule to provide FANGORIA with this exclusive interview, in which he discusses everything from his childhood experiences to the recent release of DRAG ME TO HELL.
Fango: I know that aside from all the acting you’ve done, you’ve also done some writing, directing and even soundtrack composition. Is there anything in this business that you haven’t done, that you’d like to?
Ted Raimi: Yes! I'm going to be producing now, and directing primarily. I have a film which is going to be playing at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this coming Friday that I directed, so that's exciting. I produced that as well.
“When we made ‘The Evil Dead,’ I didn’t think anybody was ever going to see it; I mean, for God’s sake, we made this movie before video rentals!” said Ellen Sandweiss with a laugh more hearty than wicked.
The Michigan-born-and-bred actress was reminiscing about the start of her professional film career, when she played Cheryl in the legendary cult horror flick, which also marked the professional debut of director Sam Raimi (the “Spider-Man” trilogy, “The Quick and the Dead,” “A Simple Plan,” “The Gift,” and the current fright-fest “Drag Me to Hell.”) Sandweiss was responsible for some of that film’s most memorable moments, including the infamous sequence when she was, er, sexually assaulted by a tree.
One of the most memorable aspects of the much-loved (by both critics and fans) but sadly underseen DRAG ME TO HELL is the ending of Sam Raimi’s supernatural thriller (SPOILER ALERT: that conclusion will be discussed heavily in this piece, with photos from the sequence—so if you haven’t seen the film yet, read no further). Even if you see it coming, as some people have claimed to, it’s a hell of a note to end on, and has sent audiences out buzzing.

1. Evil Dead 2
Back in 1987, Freddy was already in his 3rd entry while Jason was taking a breather between Jason Lives and The New Blood. What was being released that year were films that were introduced to a unappreciative audience, but would later become cult hits.
Evil Dead 2 was one of the best films to come out of that year. Often imitated but never replicated, the film was a perfect blend of horror and comedy and showed that laughing along with inanimated objects, that suddenly became animated for no reason, was perfectly normal.
If you own DVD’s and like horror…this should be in your collection.
Bruce Campbell is almost a legend... He's one of the best. I started to make this drawing 5 years ago, but I lost it and I couldn't finish it until I found it two years later, which means, in 2006.

I'm not sure how it hasn't happened yet, but we haven't reveled in all things Army of Darkness for Scenes We Love yet ... until now! It's time for some Sam Raimi love, instead of Raimi rants.
When it comes to beloved scenes, no actor or film reigns supreme than Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 3. It's a movie of epic one-liners, ones so unforgettable that even Evil Dead: The Musical uses them (well before Ash uttered them!). Yes, it's also a movie with some great slapstick, but nothing beats the words that pass through Campbell's lips.

Josh Becker believes in the basics. When it comes to making a film, that means having a good story in hand before even thinking about "lights, camera, action."
The first third of his book "The Complete Guide to Low-Budget Feature Filmmaking" is devoted to crafting a script. Just as a house needs a solid foundation, a film can't stand and endure without a strong script to support it.
"Most of the books I read about filmmaking are written by people who have never made a movie and are making big assumptions about things they don’t know anything about," said Becker, sipping espresso from a large travel mug in his Pontiac, Michigan office. "Those books tend to start like, ‘OK, write a script, and once you’ve got that, let’s shoot it.’ But what about explaining how to write the script? If you don’t know how to do that, you’re screwed before you’ve started."
U.S. director Sam Raimi, known for helming the "Spider-Man" film franchise, said he was honored to receive the 2009 Visionary Award at the Key Art Awards.
The honorary award is given to a filmmaker who inspires movie marketers, the Hollywood Reporter said Saturday.
"I'd like to thank all my creative peers who I learn so much from in the marketing of these movies," Raimi said at Friday's award show at the Geffen Contemporary. "I'll try to live up to this great honor."
While Ashley J. Williams may be the most familiar face of the series and the cult following of the films, often times overlooked are the Ladies of The Evil Dead. If it wasn't for these fab three women all those years ago, we wouldn't have the incredible film that IS The Evil Dead.

In the spring of 1980, with principal photography; re-shoots & effects sequences completed, the Renaissance team traveled from Michigan to New York, to work with editor Edna Ruth Paul. Sorting through over 100,000 feet of footage, a rough 97 minute cut was put together. Once Rob, Sam & Bruce returned back to Michigan they cut a four minute trailer narrated by John Cameron in order to raise more funding, enabling further editing work, and the final completion of the then re-titled 'The Evil Dead'. Because it was edited from the 97 rather than the 85 minute version, there are snippets of footage you’ll not see in the final movie.
During his session at the 2009 Supercon in Miami, FL, Ted Raimi recruits audience members for an impromptu improvisation session to stage the filming of a fictional movie, The girl chosen to be writer decided to call the film 'Zombie Strippers on Acid'. This video showcases 2 girls called up to audition for a role in the film.

As Sam Axe on cable channel USA's Burn Notice, Bruce Campbell plays the disreputable sidekick to the hero. In conversation with Neal Conan, he said he's enjoying being on a show "that has ratings."
You may also remember Campbell as the star of numerous B movies — think Man With the Screaming Brain. He's now directed and produced his own B movie, My Name is Bruce. He built the Western town featured in the film on his own property out of dead timber, and calls it "a very Little Rascals affair."
Of the film, which didn't hit most movie major theaters, he says "it wasn't released, it escaped."
Let's get one thing straight: The Sam Raimi that most of you know, that warm, fuzzy auteur responsible for the massive cash pile-producing "Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man 2," is not my Sam Raimi.
No, dear reader, to me the real Sam Raimi is the guy who had Bruce Campbell hack off his arm, replace it with a chain saw and do battle with evil in the first two "Evil Dead" movies, then completely kicked out the stops with "Army of Darkness" and, in one movie, gave us enough iconic scenes and lines to fill up science fiction convention trivia nights for decades.
4 differences are present on this Greek VHS: the movie title, and alternate sunrise shot, Ash's scream resonates before the end credits, and the end credits title.
Sam Raimi, thank you. Though the film-maker has been holed up over the past decade turning Spider-Man into a mega franchise, he will go down in cinema history for giving the world The Evil Dead in 1981.
It's the classic horror film of the Eighties, and that's saying something in a decade that gave us Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, the A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th monsters who would eventually come to meet in 2003.
More importantly for fans of horror, Drag Me to Hell, alongside the recent Swedish vampire flick Let the Right One In, directed by Tomas Alfredson, and Lars von Trier's controversial Cannes entry Antichrist have kicked off a much-needed revitalisation of the genre that is likely to continue later in the year when several much-anticipated scare fests arrive on our screens.
