Hosted by Fangoria’s Meredith Borders, Raimi has everyone in stitches in the Deathly Spirits chat, a virtual cocktail hour offering viewers an opportunity to mix Ted’s drink recipes and engage with the genre favorite after the screening of his new short film Red Light. Hoping to turn this short film into a full length feature project, Raimi explains how initially, the plan was to just go ahead and make the movie. Sadly, like many in the entertainment industry, the outbreak of COVID-19 put plans on hold.

Bruce Campbell talks ‘Evil Dead,’ ‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Xena’
The cult-fave actor will make his first ever trip to Huntsville this week, for Oct. 24 events at Von Braun Center’s Mark C. Smith Concert Hall featuring “Evil Dead” screenings followed by a Campbell-led chat about the film, his life as an actor and beyond. Tickets for these 3 and 7:30 p.m. events start at $32, via ticketmaster.com.
His upcoming projects include a comedy album with actor Ted Raimi, Sam’s brother, called “The Lost Recordings.” Campbell also is readying a book of essays called “The Cool Side of My Pillow,” which finds him riffing on subjects ranging from noise to the environment. He hopes to have both released by the end of this year.

Bruce Campbell talks ‘Evil Dead’ before San Antonio screening at Tobin Center for the Performing Arts
There have been big-screen sequels, as well as video games, comic books, a musical and spinoff TV series like the recent “Ash Vs. Evil Dead.” And there’s more coming. “Evil Dead Rise,” the fifth movie, is being written and directed by Lee Cronin, and produced by Campbell and Raimi.
“Our theory is many average people confront evil in their everyday lives, so it’s our crazy imagination that you take average people and put them into really gnarly situations,” Campbell said.

“The Evil Dead” remains Sam Raimi’s best DIY triumph
The most striking thing about The Evil Dead is that, after all this time, it’s still scary as hell. Maybe that should be no great achievement: Horror movies ought to, in theory at least, still manage a few scares even on repeat viewings. But the amount of fright-inducing spectacle that writer-director Sam Raimi and company pack into eighty-five blood-soaked minutes is still remarkable for so many reasons.

The Evil Dead Filming Locations 39 Years Later - Then and Now

Today we are visiting Tennessee to check out The Evil Dead filming locations including where the cabin was located in Morristown, TN, and some of the other scenes in the film outside of Knoxville in Eastern Tennessee. Sadly, the cabin in Morristown burned down a few years after The Evil Dead was filmed, but it was still neat to see the movie locations and the area that The Evil Dead was filmed.

“A Rollercoaster of Horror”: Director Lee Cronin Talks ‘Evil Dead Rise’ and How It Brings New Blood to the Franchise
To briefly recap, the next movie in the Evil Dead franchise is currently titled Evil Dead Rise, it’s being directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), it won’t feature Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, and it’s not going to be set at a cabin in the woods. Rumored but unconfirmed at this time is that the movie will be set in some kind of high-rise/skyscraper.
Cronin, who just directed the now-streaming “50 States of Fright” episode 13 Steps to Hell for Quibi, sat down for a chat with Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast this week, and while he’s not allowed to say too much about Evil Dead Rise at this time, hosts Lauren & Trevor Shand and Leone D’Antonio did manage to get some interesting insights into the project.
Evil Dead Rise Director Shares Sam Raimi's Reaction to Plans for New Film
Not only did Cronin have to impress Raimi, but he also had to impress Rob Tapert, who served as a producer on all of the films, as well as Bruce Campbell, who starred in not only the films but also all three seasons of Ash vs. Evil Dead, who will serve as a producer on the new sequel.
"It certainly wasn't me meeting with Sam and going, 'I've got this in my back pocket and I've always been waiting to play this card,'" the filmmaker confessed. "I was just glad to meet with a filmmaker that has been inspirational to me and remains an inspiration to me to then have the opportunity, for him to give me the opportunity to think about what I would do. That was the really great part. And that sums up how Sam and Rob Tapert and Bruce work. They're really super supportive of your vision and your ideas, and that's really what they gave me. They gave me this space to go and figure out what to do and, I guess, thankfully, they saw something in my work that got them excited to allow me that freedom."
