First Look At NECA’s Ash vs Evil Dead Toy Line

Bill Sencio writes:

Check out some all new photos of NECA’s modern Ash from the Ash vs. Evil Dead toy line!

I’m at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers for their Evil Dead/ Evil Dead 2 double feature, and NECA has taken the opportunity to showcase their upcoming Ash vs Evil Dead toys, based on the new Starz series.  We’ve known forever that Ashley Williams himself would– obviously– be part of this action figure line, and the modern, older figure looks truly fantastic.

Ash will be joined by another version of our hapless hero as well as a Deadite in this series, which will be released in May.

NECA also debuted their awesome new Evil Dead 2 diorama display… Of course, this piece will not be for sale, but these displays are one of the coolest things the NECA guys put together, which really highlight just how screen accurate these toys are.

Trick or Treat Studios’ Kandarian Dagger

I got way to excited when I saw this available on www.houseofmysterioussecrets.com. I jumped, nay, shot myself from a canon to order this thing. I was moving faster than a speeding bullet. My vision instantly turned into Raimi Vision like when the demons were whipping through the woods toward the cabin, only I was headed toward my laptop.

I knew this was coming out. I have no Trick or Treat Studios stuff in my collection, and have been meaning to pick up something. Trick or Treat is really well known for their mask making.  I’m a big fan of their Halloween Michael Myers / The Shape mask with the tears. I never got it. Continuing to disappoint myself was not an option so I had to snatch one of these up. Not only is it from one of my favorite horror flicks, Evil Dead II, but it’s sculpted by Tom Sullivan who is famous as hell (and totally deservedly so) for being the magic man behind the FX of the Evil Dead films.

Next on the list is Ashley J. Williams, as depicted in Sam Raimi’s classic 1987 Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn!

The toy company tweeted out stating that they won’t be looking to adapt Ash out of the “Fistful of Boomstick” video game because they’re already bringing us toys based on Starz’s “Ash vs Evil Dead” series to go along with the Ultimate version of Ash.

‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ Season 2 Script Is In, and More News From the Starz TCA Presentation

Starz presented to the Television Critics Association this morning and Starz CEO Chris Albrecht announced new series collaborations with Alejandro González Iñárritu and Alejandro Brugués. We asked the status of the second season of Ash vs. Evil Dead, which was greenlit before the season one premiere. Albrecht says development is moving full speed ahead.

“Saw the first script a couple days ago,” Albrecht said. “Looks really good. Second seasons are so important for series. That’s the difference between making a movie and making a series. The cast really gelled through the first season. They appropriately got a lot of acknowledgment from the fans and press. We’re really excited. This is a series. I think it’s got the legs of a real series. The storylines and what I’ve seen on paper back that up. We’re on track for another season in 2016.”

Ray Santiago helps Bruce Campbell fight Deadites in 'Ash vs Evil Dead'

Filmmaker Sam Raimi once again reunited with actor Bruce Campbell to continue to the story of Ashley “Ash” J. Williams (Campbell), the protagonist of “The Evil Dead” film franchise, in the television series, “Ash vs Evil Dead.” 30 years after his demonic encounter in a cabin in the woods, Ash accidently unleashes the same evil force and spirits that haunted many decades ago. Aside from a set of groovy tools that include his “boomstick” and a chainsaw, Ash also finds himself paired with his co-workers Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) who are willing to help get rid a Deadite plague that threatens to destroy humanity. Examiner.com had to the chance to speak with Santiago about shooting the television series, the difficult aspects of shooting a horror series such as “Ash vs Evil Dead” and working with Bruce Campbell.

Seven Moments That Prove Ash vs. Evil Dead is Nostalgia Done Right

On Saturday, the first season of the hugely anticipated Ash vs. Evil Dead came to a close. The show has proved to be an enormous hit, winning over new fans and providing old fans with what they want at the same time. It’s already been greenlit for a second season coming later this year. What really, pleasantly surprised me about the series was its ability to make nostalgic references that don’t distract from the developing storyline.

This is something that every property is trying to do right now. From Star Wars all the way down the ladder, almost every current movie and TV franchise is trying to appeal to the viewer’s inherent sense of nostalgia. Ash vs. Evil Dead is among the very best of them. It’s a series that’s irreverent, funny, goofball, but also pretty smart about exactly what it’s trying to be. This is an extension of the films, but at the same time, it does a great job of reminding people why they cared so much in the first place. What drew people to Evil Dead and what made them become such loyal fans over such a long period of time? Because that fandom, rabid as it was, is the only reason a show like this was ever allowed to happen.

Naturally, the fans deserve callbacks and references, but these aren’t just dished out right out of the gate. They appear gradually, maybe one or two an episode—at least until the finale which is a virtual Evil Dead movie in its own right. As a longtime fan, this series was everything I wanted. All of the old stuff I loved was there, making it so much easier to accept and embrace everything new.

Joseph LoDuca | ASH VS EVIL DEAD

From starburstmagazine.com:

Composer Joseph LoDuca has worked with director Sam Raimi since the very beginning. From the 1981 cult favorite The Evil Dead through Xena: Warrior Princess and beyond, the composer has lent his skills to the Raimi's mix of comedy, action, and fantasy / horror. Most notable has been LoDuca's work on each and every iteration of Raimi's Evil Dead films (Fede Alvarez's 2013 reboot being the obvious exception). This is up to and including the new series for Starz, Ash Vs Evil Dead. Those familiar with LoDuca's music might be surprised at the tone his tunes take in the series. The music – out now via Varèse Sarabande – is an excellent mix of horror, action, and rock 'n' roll themes. We were lucky enough to be able to ask composer LoDuca about his influences and plans for the series…

TV rarely gets more intense and over-the-top as it did on Saturday night when Ash vs Evil Dead bid farewell to Season 1 with wacky hallucinations, Godfather references and disgusting monster babies. When Will 'Ash vs. Evil Dead' Return For Season 2? The Deadites Aren't Done With Us Yet

From the teaser for the Season 1 finale of Ash vs. Evil Dead, it looks like the episode will be the scariest and bloodiest of the comedy horror series yet. However, fans of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead film franchise have been waiting a long time for Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) to return to the screen, so no matter how good the finale is, the fact that the first season of Ash vs. Evil Dead is coming to a close on Saturday night is a tough pill to swallow. However, knowing if Ash vs. Evil Dead is renewed for Season 2 would help make watching the Season 1 finale that much more of a scary good time.

Featured Video: Fighting the Evil Dead (Elvis Parody)

The release of Ash vs Evil Dead marked a monumental occasion for a lot of super-obsessed fanboys like myself. I've been dreaming of seeing Bruce Campbell in action again since I watch Evil Dead 2 for the 70th time in college. However, maybe you're not familiar with the original movies, or maybe you just want to reminisce a little. Either way, the next logical step was an Elvis parody... right? RIGHT?!
