Some of Bruce Campbell's Q&A at FanExpo 2009

Source: BeverlyJeanway

Cult hero Bruce Campbell has fun with Fan Expo

Phil Brown
writes:
Bruce Campbell is a bit like Alexander Keith's beer. Those who like him, like him a lot.

While some people might recognize the star of the Evil Dead film trilogy from one of his many appearances on screens big and small, many of the sci-fi fanboys, horror lovers and comic-book obsessives descending upon the Metro Toronto Convention Centre today for Fan Expo Canada would rank him somewhere between a movie star and a demigod.

Interview Excerpt:
Q: Will there ever be another Evil Dead movie?

Bruce Campbell: It seems like we're actively pursuing a remake. That will probably happen at some point in the next couple years. As far as the sequel goes, we're going to wait until Sam Raimi isn't busy making big studio blockbusters. It's fun working with Sam. Some directors like to whisper in an actor's ear or take them over into a corner to give direction, but Sam just yells, "Pick up the pace! For God's sake, I'm falling asleep here!" He just cuts to the chase and he does it in a fun and entertaining way even though he means it.

Fantasy Cast: Who should play Ash in ‘Evil Dead’ remake?

Travis writes:

With Rob Zombie’s sequel to his remake of HALLOWEEN opening tomorrow, it’s got me thinking about another potential remake in the proverbial “works”… that being a little diddy called THE EVIL DEAD, originally brought to us by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

So, you may… no, most probably ARE asking yourself, “Why the HELL are they remaking THE EVIL DEAD?” If so, you’re certainly not alone. (In fact, you are also not the only one who, on some level, really doesn’t care who plays Ash in the new film, because he’ll never compare to Bruce Campbell, right? We’ll get to that momentarily.) The ultimate question on everyone’s mind is… Who would be able to fill Mr. Campbell’s shoes if they do go through with the remake?

Army Of Darkness: Ash Saves Obama #1 REVIEWED

G-Man
writes:
In my continuation to try to review some comics that aren't from the 'big two,' I thought I'd review Obama's crossover with Ash from Army Of Darkness. When I first heard about this, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. There's been so many Obama cover appearances. Is this going to be different? It's not just a cover appearance. It's actually a four issue mini-series. Can this possibly work or has the world just gone crazy?

Evil Dead Fans Rock!

LouEvilDead.com writes:
We still have one more day left at the Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Linda Blair is here along with a few other celebrities, and a LOT of horror related vendors are also here as well. The coolest part is the fans! I love talking to fans of the movie, who are scooping up tickets and t-shirts like crazy.

I met this one lovely young lady who had a great “cartooned Ash” tattoo on her arm. I took a photo of it with my phone, and it turned out a bit weird, but I still like the image…. here it is!

The Breakfast Club meets Evil Dead in "Bad Kids Go To Hell"

What happens when you take the cheesy horror fest of Evil Dead and mix it with the teenage wasteland of The Breakfast Club? Well, it would probably look a lot like Bad Kids Go to Hell, a new title from Antarctic Press.

The story takes its cues roughly from the two movies listed above. It features a group of misfits, mostly troubled rich kids, that have to spend a Saturday in detention. Due to reformations being done at the school, detention has been moved to a newly constructed library that was, naturally, built on haunted ground. Rumors have persisted about creepy crawling cockroaches and strange apparitions around the school, and sure, enough the horror manifests itself on this particular Saturday.

The Bruce Campbell Watch 2009

There comes a time to pick a celebrity to follow, to trumpet, to hold up for public consumption, for no better reason than you want the world to care about that person as much as you do.

For me, that time was 1998, when I launched the Bruce Campbell Watch in the pages of Time Out New York magazine. Why Bruce Campbell? To quote myself: “With a huge arsenal of B movies and a recurring role on ratings-grabbers Xena and Hercules, Campbell has attracted the same kind of cult following usually generated by household names like Duchovny, Shatner and Auberjonois. And with this new monthly feature, New Yorkers will learn what so many already know: that Bruce is the hardest-working, best-looking Detroit-born actor ever to command a cult following by replacing his own hand with a chainsaw.”

It’s obvious that Bruce Campbell no longer needs the Bruce Campbell Watch, if he ever even did.

Sounds like the perfect time to re-launch the project. In Web 2.0 no less.
