‘Evil Dead 2′ Writer to Direct ‘Wrath’

Writer, Producer, and Director Scott Spiegel is on board to direct Fatality Film’s latest horror flick, Wrath.

"A horrific murder that took place over two hundred years ago gives birth to a vengeful creature, The Easter Witch, who returns to exact revenge on the unsuspecting locals of a California coastal town in the mid-1980s. The town of Emerald Beach holds a secret, a secret that the town’s troubled inhabitants have kept since 1736. Told as a local legend to the town’s children, the words echo on the night air as a caution.

“Run on home. Heed the warning. Don’t come out till early morning.”

But now, in 1986, on the eve of Swedish Easter, brothers Colton and Reid Bergstrom will come face to face with this chilling secret. As night falls over Emerald Beach, Colton and Reid must run for their lives and survive until dawn as a terrifying and ravenous creature known as The Easter Witch begins an unstoppable hunt for the brothers, stalling them at every deadly turn.

Spiegel wrote the 1987 sequel to the cult-classic, The Evil Dead, and went on to produce the wildly popular Hostel movies. The script comes from newcomer Alex Sosin and produced by Andrea Albin, co-founder of Fatality Films with Spiegel.

The Ladies of The Evil Dead Interview - "It Was Different Than"

The 2013 Montreal Comiccon/Horrorfest was rife with celebrities, and the obvious big draw might have been George Takei (Star Trek) or maybe Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), but there were three ladies in attendance whom we just had to talk to. These were The Ladies of The Evil Dead: Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker, and Theresa Tilly. Together, along with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, they created one of horror's most beloved films, the cult-classic The Evil Dead (1981). And the three of them formed one of the greatest trio of women since Shakespeare penned "Double, double toil and trouble/ Fire burn, and caldron bubble." Come to think of it, these ladies should campaign for the part in a Hollywood production of Macbeth.

Since I'm not aware of any Macbeth productions coming down the pipeline, let's focus on where you can see these women. Obviously, in the film The Evil Dead and at cons, but also in their webseries Dangerous Women, 2007′s Brutal Massacre: A Comedy, and, most recently, Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful.

Fede Alvarez Says Sam Raimi "Determined" To Get 'Army of Darkness 2' Going, Next?!

Now that the Sam Raimi-produced remake of his The Evil Dead was an R-rated hit, what comes next? The sequel, presumably, and then maybe that long-gestured fourth Evil Dead, tentatively titled Army of Darkness 2.

But what happens when Raimi has laser focus? Remember when he wanted to make Drag Me To Hell? A preposterous movie pitch that somehow got made – and it was awesome. Now, we’re hearing that Raimi is “determined” to get Army of Darkness 2 off the ground… and maybe even before that Evil Dead sequel.

EVIL DEAD Director Fede Alvarez To Helm DANTE'S INFERNO Adaptation

Universal has set Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez to bring the Electronic Arts video game (which is itself based on the first part of Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem Divine Comedy) to the big screen in live action.

Deadline report that Fede Alvarez will direct a live action take on the Electronic Arts action adventure video game Dante's Inferno for Universal. The game is based on "Inferno", the first canticle of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, (why Universal don't simply adapt that and are going straight for the video game is anyone's guess..but there ya go) and follows the exploits of Dante (reimagined as a Templar knight) as he journeys through the nine circles of Hell to reclaim the soul of his beloved Beatrice from the hands of Lucifer. Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent)is on script duties, with Bruce McKenna (The Pacific) writing an earlier draft.

“HOSTEL”‘s Boaz Yakin to produce Scott Spiegel’s “ZOMBIE WEDDING”

Boaz Yakin (pictured above, on set of SAFE), co-writer/executive producer of the summer hit NOW YOU SEE ME, will produce director Scott Spiegel’s latest horror film, ZOMBIE WEDDING. Announced last year, the new high-concept project from the EVIL DEAD II screenwriter and INTRUDER director is based on Marc Selz’s screenplay of the same title, which Spiegel rewrote with Selz’s collaboration. Fango’s editor emeritus Tony Timpone will co-produce. ZOMBIE WEDDING follows a couple of young horror lovers who decide to hold a zombie-themed wedding on Halloween night only to have “real” flesh-eating ghouls crash their celebration.

“The main reason I’m excited about ZOMBIE WEDDING is the opportunity to work with Scott Spiegel again, who, as well as being a dear friend, is an energetic and talented filmmaker. Scott always brings something exciting and offbeat to the horror genre,” says Yakin, who co-wrote Clint Eastwood’s THE ROOKIE with Spiegel and also produced HOSTEL, HOSTEL: PART II and 2001 MANIACS. In addition, Yakin directed the films SAFE, REMEMBER THE TITANS and FRESH. He also previously collaborated with Spiegel on the story for FROM DUSK TILL DAWN 2: TEXAS BLOOD MONEY and partnered with him and director Eli Roth on the late horror label Raw Nerve.

8 Possible ‘Army of Darkness’ Sequels We’d Love to See

With the success of ‘The Evil Dead’ remake, it seems like a perfect time to consider revisiting the third installment of the original franchise, ‘Army of Darkness’.

While ‘Army of Darkness’ took a completely different turn from the first two movies, its cult popularity has made it highly probably for another movie. The question is, where would the story go? The movie ends (SPOILER) with Ash back in present day inside S-Mart with his shotgun in hand.

Here are 8 possible ideas for ‘Army of Darkness 2′.
