"Within the Woods" is originally a Short Film from 1978 written and directed by Sam Raimi. Shot on Super 8-mm, Sam used the film in an effort to raise money to produce his first feature length film, The Evil Dead.
BSP is a Pittsburgh, PA based production company working on a short film based on Sam Raimi's original work. The film follows the story of four young friends staying at a run-down rental home in the woods. As luck would have it, the home is near an ancient Indian Burial Ground, so of course, an unspeakable evil is accidentally awakened. Before they know it, all four must fight for their lives.
The short film will be done using a digital format, and the professional gruesome special effects will be provided by students attending Tom Savini's Special Make-Up Effects Program near Pittsburgh. Now some may ask, why choose to do a Short Film based on Raimi's original? Well it is established, it will help to stand out from countless short horror films, but most of all, its a passion project of ours, an homage to all of Raimi's fantastic work in Horror and it is going to be a whole lot of fun!

The big-budget (comparatively speaking) 1992 capper to the "Evil Dead" trilogy is "Army of Darkness," Bruce Campbell's cinematic tour de force.
This interview was taped on May 4th, 1983 with Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert for a public access show in Roseville, Michigan called "The Fast Track". Due to copyright, all film clips from the movie "Evil Dead" have been edited out of this interview. This includes the opening credits to this show.
Like millions of other nerds, I think Sam Raimi's 'Evil Dead' movies are like the best kind of comfort food. They're filled with violence, time travel, zombies, HP Lovecraft, chainsaws, Three Stooges comedy, demons and Bruce Campbell, the most iconic chin to never wear the big red S.
So it was with a little surprise and a lot of gleeful recognition that I saw this episode of the DCAU's 'Justice League.' In it, Superman is thrown through time, with only his wits, a vague goal to "get back home" and a car trunk's worth of 20th Century supplies. If an editor wanted to re-cut this, he could just dub in the audio from 'Army of Darkness.' Yes, it's a superhero retelling of Evil Dead 3, with Vandal Savage in place of Evil Ash and mutant cockroaches in place of the Deadites.

Jumping in with both feet in 1982, he became involved with the trio of Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert, and actor Bruce Campbell for the iconic splat-stick horror film Evil Dead. He developed such a strong bond with them that whenever any of them would request his services, he would jump at the chance. After paying his dues in the horror film circuit, the team graduated into epic television franchises, first with Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and then to greater success with Xena: Warrior Princess.
Freddy's Nightmares: Let's Play The Evil Dead on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Based on the 1981 Live Action Movie that starred Bruce Campbell and was written and directed by Sam Raimi. The movie was released by Renaissance Pictures. This game was made and released by Palace Software in 1984 as a free game with the game Cauldron and was never released on it's own.
In an early alert to retailers Anchor Bay (A Starz company) has made this horror film geek very excited by announcing plans to finally bring Sam Raimi’s 1981 classic “The Evil Dead” to Blu-ray Disc on August 31st. No tech specs or info yet regarding bonus materials but stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated. The title is already available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon with a $20.99 price tag.
Army of Darkness and its predecessor films have carved out a niche for themselves in the hearts of horror fans, and their popularity is such that even though the last film was released seventeen years ago, the series is still going strong.

Here's something you don't see every day! Namely two vintage Evil Dead press photos circa back when Raimi was still in Detroit (on 9 Mile in Ferndale actually, just North of the famed 8 Mile) at Renaissance Pictures.

• Super rare photo of Sam Raimi and Coen Bros Ethan in front of the Redford Theater in Detroit for the premiere of Book Of The Dead (AKA The Evil Dead). On the back of this photo is the following caption (glued on, hey, they were on a tight budget in the early '80s).

Last year Spider-Man director Sam Raimi returned to his roots with the theatrical release of Drag Me to Hell. This weekend, audiences can experience Raimi's original cult horror classic, The Evil Dead, just as it was seen back in 1981 — on the big screen. For the first feature in its new Late Night Grind House series, St. Louis' horror podcast Destroy The Brain! has teamed with Grindhouse Releasing (cofounded by Sylvester Stallone's son Sage) to present a new 35mm print of The Evil Dead for midnight screenings at the Hi-Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Avenue) this Friday and Saturday (May 14 and 15).
On the tape, in which the demon resurrection passages are read aloud, some of the words spoken (which sound like genuine Latin) and that sound like "Sam and Rob, Das ist Hikers Dan dee Roadsa" actually mean "Sam and Rob are the Hikers on the road", as it was actually Sam Raimi and Robert G. Tapert who play the fishermen that wave to the car as it passes them near the start of the film.
The folks at The Alamo Drafthouse will drop a whole load of items from their recent screening of The Evil Dead today. Olly Moss’ poster is a 16″ x 24″ screenprint, has an edition of 250, and will be $35. Florian Bertmer’s poster is a 24″ x 36″ screenprint, has an edition of 150, and will be $35. With the news of the demise of the Sam Raimi-produced Legend of the Seeker circulating the blogosphere, this got me thinking about the richly diverse fantasy worlds that Sam Raimi has brought to the small screen. Sure, we mainly remember him as the director for the Spider-Man movies or maybe even The Evil Dead movies further back but he's also a rather prolific TV producer with a passion for the geekier things in life.
In this week's Geeky Guide to TV, let's review the surprisingly geeky world of Sam Raimi, who has helped bring to life worlds of fantasy in the same way that Jerry Bruckheimer keeps giving us new iterations of CSI. It's either this or join the rest of the Craig Horner fans in trying to save Legend of the Seeker.
