Attention, all you Deadites out there! We know you are all still super bummed about the recent cancelation of the amazing Ash Vs. Evil Dead, and Bruce Campbell’s concurrent retirement from the role of Ash. Believe us, we feel your pain. But there is still some good news to be heard about the world of Sam Raimi’s classic The Evil Dead. The folks over at Dynamite Entertainment have announced the development of a new miniature-based tabletop game, based on the beloved third movie in the series, Army of Darkness.

Bruce Campbell Teases “Upcoming Incarnations” of the ‘Evil Dead’ Franchise

Just last week, Bruce Campbell gave his blessing to the Evil Dead franchise continuing without him, noting on Twitter that there are still “lots of unexplored stories and crossovers in the Evil Dead universe.” Add to this that producer Rob Tapert also recently noted that he and Sam Raimi are discussing the future of the franchise and it would seem that Evil Dead is most definitely going to soon continue… likely without Bruce Campbell’s Ash. But would Bruce be up for reprising the role in, say, a video game?!

On Twitter, 1428 Elm‘s Susan Leighton just asked Campbell if he’d be open to doing motion capture and voice work on a new Evil Dead game, and he gave an interesting reply…
“Fans are wonderfully nit-picky,” Campbell wrote. “I can’t talk particulars yet, but I think fans will dig the upcoming incarnations.”
This comment suggests that “upcoming incarnations” of the franchise are being actively developed, and it’s interesting to note that Campbell doesn’t shoot down the possibility of perhaps playing Ash again in something other than a movie or TV show. Could we see a new video game? A sequel to the remake? At this point, anything is possible.

And we can be pretty sure that it won’t be too long before Evil Dead returns…

Robert Kurtzman Movie Prop and Art Auction Live: ‘Army of Darkness’, ‘Wishmaster’, ‘Dusk till Dawn’ and More!

From bloody-disgusting.com:

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been teasing Hanlin’s Hollywood Memorabilia‘s forthcoming auction that celebrates the career of K.N.B. co-founder Robert Kurtzman. We’ve shared early concept art for the Wes Craven-produced Wishmaster, which Kurtzman directed, and the same for Robert Rodriguez‘s From Dusk till Dawn. In fact, there are so many goodies being auctioned off that you’ll find unused concept models for the unfilmed horror such as Junk, which would have once again teamed Kurtzman and Craven.

The auction is now LIVE and open for public bidding. You can now own any of the aforementioned works of art, not to mention dozens of other surprises you’ll find while browsing through the massive catalog.

Fan of Army of Darkness? There’s early concept art of the “Pit Bitch”. Are you a Kevin Smith stan? There are screen-used Tusk and Yoga Hosers props, including a rare Nazi sausage suit that was made for Jason Mewes, who was originally set to star in the role (until his claustrophobia forced him to back out). Other rare items come from films including Hulk, Phantoms, The Mist, Spawn, Vampire In Brooklyn, Hisss, Hostel: Part III and more.

Hanlin’s Hollywood Memorabilia auction is LIVE with full catalog and bidding available either here or here.

For What It’s Worth, Bruce Campbell Gives His Blessing to ‘Evil Dead’ Continuing Without Him

What’s next for the Evil Dead franchise, now that “Ash vs. Evil Dead” is over and Bruce Campbell has officially retired from playing Ash Williams? Is there even a “next”?

Well, Fede Alvarez recently kinda-sorta expressed interest in making a sequel to his remake, and there are certainly any number of ways the franchise could continue without Bruce. On a related note, franchise producer Rob Tapert just recently noted that he and Sam Raimi “have been talking about what a new incarnation would be.”

So what does Bruce Campbell think about Evil Dead continuing on without him? A fan just asked him that very question on Twitter, and Campbell actually responded. The fan asked, “Even though you’re retiring Ash, would you give your blessing to Rob/Ted/Dana/Ray if they wanted to carry on the Evil Dead universe story?” Campbell replied…
“Not that they need it, but of course. Lots of unexplored stories and crossovers in the Evil Dead universe. .”
As for what form a continuation would take, well, your guess is as good as ours.

[Butcher Block] The Low Budget Guts and Gore of ‘The Evil Dead’

It’s been a couple of weeks since the finale of “Ash vs. Evil Dead” aired, bringing Ash full circle to where we left him 25 years ago. Well, where we left him in the alternate ending favored by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell anyway. Regardless of its conclusion, the three-season run on Starz was a gift to fans that managed to seamless weave in original trilogy mythologies and characters while branching out into fun new directions. Above all, it gave fans so much glorious splatstick humor and gore. With the loss of the series still raw, it only seems appropriate to revisit the film that started it all and set the precedent for the torture poor Ashley Joanna Williams/Bruce Campbell would endure for the decades that followed.

Producer Rob Tapert Talks Future of ‘Evil Dead’; Wanted to Make a New Movie With Bruce Campbell

Video Source: AUSXIP Network

From bloody-disgusting.com:

Bruce Campbell may be retired as Ash and “Ash vs. Evil Dead” may be, well, dead, but we can be fairly certain that Evil Dead will eventually return in some way, shape or form. In fact, remake director Fede Alvarez recently kinda-sorta expressed interest in making a sequel, and there are any number of ways the franchise could continue without Bruce.

At Motor City Comic Con over the weekend, producer Rob Tapert was asked about the future of the franchise, post-“Ash vs. Evil Dead,” and he had this to say.

We knew going into the third season that there was a chance [we’d get cancelled]… the ratings had been turning down and it’s hard to change that,” Tapert told the crowd. “Starz had been a good partner. Pretty much letting us do anything we wanted. It was probably just not the right outlet for it… but they waited until the ratings came in for the third season. We sold the rights to the first two seasons to Netflix, but they won’t let a competitor have something [that’s theirs]… which I kind of understand. It’s unfortunate.”

He continued, “We had a really great idea for where it was going to go in the future, and it was something Sam [Raimi] had been talking about: rebooting a movie. What that scenario could be. And then, Bruce wrote to Sam and I one day… ‘If they don’t [renew us], I’m retiring from Ash.’ [So we said], ‘But wait Bruce, what about a movie?!’ [He said], ‘No, I’m retiring.’ So. We’ll see.”

Sam and myself have been talking about what a new incarnation would be.”

Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) by George Reinblatt - Biz Books

About the Play:

Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) is a full-length musical comedy by George Reinblatt. Based on the Evil Dead cult classic films, this hilarious, record-breaking Canadian musical tells the tale of 5 college kids who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. And although it may sound like a horror, it's not! The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit.

Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) has none of the swearing – all of the blood! It unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like "All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons" and "What the Heck Was That?" It will have audiences rolling in their seats and screaming for more and more blood. This show has fun with the horror genre and, in doing so, appeals to a wide audience. And with this combination of blood, jokes, cheesy effects and awesome musical numbers, Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) is unlike any show you’ve ever seen.

Evil Dead: The Musical (High School Version) premiered in 2017 at Stagedoor Manor in Loch Sheldrake, New York. This full-length adaptation of the hilarious off-Broadway musical is tailor-made for high-school and middle-school performers.

Fede Alvarez may direct Evil Dead 2 next

Back in 2013, we were hit with a remake of Sam Raimi's zero-budget splatter classic THE EVIL DEAD. The remake came to us via an untested director by the name of Fede Alvarez and every horror fan on Earth held their breath for what was sure to be yet another yawn-inducing horror movie redux.

But then EVIL DEAD (2013) was good. Actually, it was a killer 90 mins filled with enough blood, gore, and fanboy references to make as all cheer in the blood rain. Plus, Jane Levy was a great female follow up to Bruce Campbell's Ash.

And if you feel the same way as I do about the remake, then you'll be excited to hear that Alvarez MIGHT be thinking of making a sequel to his original remake (these sentences are getting harder to type every day).

Yes, Alvarez recently took to Twitter to put out the question: "What should I do next?" Before listing possible potential projects as EVIL DEAD 2 and DON'T BREATHE 2. He also added a choice of "Stop Making Movies" but thankfully only a small percentage of cinema intellectuals (re: jerks) picked that answer.

The results landed as such: EVIL DEAD 2 scored 70% of the vote and DON'T BREATHE 2 snagged 20% of the votes... and “Stop Making Movies” garnered a mere 10% for the sake of argument.

Alvarez is currently shooting the sequel to David Fincher's THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO called THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER'S WEB so it may be quite a while before he taps his next motion picture, but when he does, he just might move onto EVIL DEAD 2. Cool, huh?!
