Earlier this week, Starz announced it had renewed Ash vs Evil Dead for a third season that will debut in 2017. Given this, talk of this season’s ratings are mostly moot. However, it is worth noting the show is managing to hold on to its existing live + same day audience with a score of 436,000 viewers for the premiere. That’s only one thousand shy of last year’s series premiere.
More importantly, the hold comes days after Starz released the season two premiere online for free. And again, we still don’t have the big picture because this year Ash vs Evil Dead is available through OTT services like Amazon. It’s very possible the series is raking in well over 1 – 2 million viewers across all platforms. In the case of premium cable, a subscription is a subscription. Demographics don’t matter. So, if Ash is bringing in the digital market, it very much is bringing in some serious revenue to Starz, which is great for the longevity of the series.
