In the history of film there have been some great movies which may not have achieved the financial success that was intended, but still became legendary – cult classics. The reason for this is that these films developed a strong, loyal following by a small, but meaningful, set of fans. In many cases, these films launched the careers of actors and directors. This is most definitely the case with the 1981 comedic horror film Evil Dead, which introduced the world to actor Bruce Campbell, director Sam Raimi and the three female leads – Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker and Theresa Tilly – that would later reunite for the action series Dangerous Women, where they undergo a “daily battle between motherhood, marriage and their sadistically evil doubles.”
But what qualifies Evil Dead as a true cult classic and not just some run-of-the-mill “cabin in the woods” horror flick?
