Featured Video: Diamond Select Toys Army of Darkness 10th Anniversary Statue

Since I have yet to find a video about this statue, I've decided to do one myself. I sincerely apologize for the video quality. I was using a better camera that captured it beautifully but the cable required to put it on my laptop is missing. Here's a comparison/review of the Diamond Select Toys Army of Darkness 10th Anniversary Statue. This one is numbered 529 out of 1,993. I highly recommend this to Army of Darkness fans/statue collectors.

Since this came out in 2003, it is a harder find than the more recent 2007 PF despite there being more of them out there. If you see this on ebay for a good price, you should nab it!

Burn Notice: The Fall Of Sam Axe Will Premiere In April

If you’ve been looking forward to the Burn Notice prequel movie, Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe, you’ll be happy to know that USA has set a premiere date.

The Fall of Sam Axe will premiere on USA on April 17th at 9/8c on USA. Written by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix and directed by series star Jeffrey Donovan, the film will follow Bruce Campbell’s character Sam Axe during his mission in Columbia in 2005, when he was sent to advise a local military platoon. According to the information USA released, “It’s there he discovers deep layers of deception and ultimately realizes he may be allied with the wrong side.”

Also set to star in the movie is RonReaco Lee (The Good Guys), Kiele Sanchez (Lost, The Glades), John Diehl (Miami Vice, Stargate) and Chandra West (John from Cincinnati, The Gates).

From the sounds of it, this film is not to be missed by fans of the action/spy series Burn Notice and especially by those who think Bruce Campbell (and his character Sam Axe) is awesome, which I suspect is a lot of people.

‘Evil Dead’ comes alive - Musical rendition of cult film debuts at Valentine

Jason Mack writes:
Washing blood out of your clothes is not part of a traditional night out at the theater, but "Evil Dead the Musical" is anything but traditional.

Director James Norman, a part-time English professor at the University of Toledo, is premiering the production at 7 p.m. tomorrow night at The Valentine's Studio A Theatre in downtown Toledo. Norman has directed for several Toledo area high schools, sang with the Toledo Opera for 20 years, and has directed productions such as "The Full Monty" and "Victor Victoria."

It has come to my attention that there aren't many videos on YouTube or else where that help with finding a good Ash costume from Evil Dead & Army of Darkness. I know it isn't perfect and I could always upload a better one later but for now this will have to do. I hope you enjoy it and that it is helpful.

“Arm of Darkness” - Oscar-Nominated Movie Poster Mashups

Chris Plante writes:

Movie title puns are rarely funny on their own, but turn those same puns into photoshopped posters and you’re halfway to a viral hit.

Just ask Empire Online, whose users have mashed up this year’s Oscar nominees with some favorite films of yore to produce faux-posters that are funny (“Trueman Grit”), nostalgic (“Fight of the Navigator”) and surreal (“No True Greet No Surrender”).

Our favorite poster is “Arm of Darkness,” a shop of the original “Army of Darkness” poster with Bruce Campbell’s head replaced by James Franco’s noggin — a wink at “127 Hours” graphic arm removal conclusion.

The “Arm of Darkness” tagline: “How can you destroy an arm that’s already dead?”

Visit Empire to see all 41 posters and let us know your favorite.

Necronomicon Cake inspired by ‘Army of Darkness’

Info:
Just got back from my friend Christey’s house (aka. Fotocuisine) where we quite successfully re-created the Army of Darkness, Book of the Dead in cake form (aka. Necronomicon Cake) for her son’s 14th birthday! This is definitely not something they teach you in the Wilton Cake decorating classes! I was quite surprised how easy this cake was, and how utterly realistic it looked. Our young ones (4 and younger) were fascinated with the ‘evil book’ and had 100s of questions about it.

More pictures to follow from Christey and then I’ll write a more thorough step by step process. Hail to the king, baby!

Book Of The Dead Update - New Additions

bookofthedead.ws writes:
Two new pages have now been added to the 'Features' section. Firstly a piece about the real Egyptian 'Book of the Dead', the inspiration behind the trilogy's namesake. A sizable number of the surviving Egyptian 'Books of the Dead' were part of a one-off exhibition at the the British Museum in London, England, between November 4, 2010 to March 6, 2011. Many examples had never been seen before, drawn from the British Museum’s unparalleled collection, with the oldest examples over 3,500 years old!

Secondly, an extremely difficult 20 question quiz, which covers production and details on both Within The Woods & The Evil Dead. All the answers are out there to be found, with many on this site, and some questions are easier than others, so have a go and see how you do. The first person to get them all wins a secret prize!

Hopefully more additions will be along shortly, so keep checking back!

Get To Know Your 'Burn Notice' Prequel Cast

Brittany Frederick writes:
Thanks to the folks at TVLine, we now know someone who'll be joining Bruce Campbell in the Burn Notice prequel telefilm. In fact, we know many someones.

Here's who you'll be seeing, where you've seen them before, and who they'll play:

Chandra West
Where You've Seen Her Before:
As Devon on ABC's The Gates, Gail McKinney on CW's 90210, and Tina Blake on HBO's John From Cincinnati.
Who She'll Be Playing: Donna, a "sexy and fun" woman who's the love interest for a then-Lt. Cmdr. Sam Axe (Campbell).

RonReaco Lee
Where You've Seen Him Before:
As snitch Julius Grant on Matt Nix's other series, the recently-axed The Good Guys. Currently starring as Jamal on BET's Let's Stay Together.
Who He'll Be Playing: Dr. Ben Delaney, who runs a nonprofit clinic in Colombia and ends up afoul of terrorists. I'm pretty sure he will not be asked to utilize his excellent piano-playing skills.

Kiele Sanchez
Where You've Seen Her Before:
As Callie, the nurse who strikes the attention of Jim Longworth on A&E's The Glades. She also appeared as Nikki on ABC's Lost.
Who She'll Be Playing:
An as yet unnamed humanitarian running a food relief effort with a distrust of soldiers.

John Diehl
Where You've Seen Him Before:
He recently appeared in the Lie To Me episode "Veronica" and on Friday Night Lights as Richard Sherman. He's also appeared on Mental (which starred Burn Notice's Gilroy, Chris Vance), Cold Case, Jericho and Point Pleasant.
Who He'll Be Playing:
Real Admiral Lawrence, Sam's "no-nonsense" Naval boss who will "stop at nothing" to figure out what's going on in Colombia. Wonder if he'll turn out to be a bad guy?

If you've missed the earlier news, the two-hour Burn Notice prequel is targeted for sometime this spring. It focuses on Sam Axe's Navy SEAL background, and early reports say it will take place in 2005. Jeffrey Donovan is directing, and serves as an executive producer alongside Campbell and series creator Matt Nix.
