The Shadow knows what lurks in the hearts of men, but what does "The Shadow" producer Michael Uslan know about plans for a new film to feature the pulp hero?Last month, rumors hit the 'Net that an upcoming "Shadow" film co-produced by Uslan and Sam Raimi (a well-known fan of the character) was being shopped around Hollywood to various studios. While most reports agreed that there was some uncertainty where the project would land, other reports indicated that former "Spider-Man" director Raimi (whose 1990 film "Darkman" was actually his take on The Shadow sans rights to the character) might not direct, and instead hand the reins over to "30 Days of Night" and "Twilight: Eclipse" director David Slade.
While Uslan said Raimi is very much still attached to the project and actively pushing it forward, he indicated that Slade's rumored connection to the film was nothing more than that at this point: a rumor."Don't necessarily believe everything you read on the Internet," he said.
While he declined to comment on whether Raimi would direct, Uslan said Raimi's attachment to The Shadow goes far beyond that of a normal director/character dynamic.
"The Shadow comics were the thing that propelled Sam into becoming a comic book fanatic," he said. "So to be aligned with him and [co-producer] Josh Donen on this project has been magical. Sam has a passion for it and an understanding of it."
