The Ringwald's staging of "Evil Dead: The Musical" comes with an important distinction: It's playing just a stone's throw from the building where the "Evil Dead" filmmakers once had their production offices.
Earlier this month, the City of Ferndale dedicated a plaque near the Pioneer Office Building, 195 W. Nine Mile in downtown Ferndale, where Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell, all born and raised in metro Detroit, once ran Renaissance Pictures. It was where they produced the first two "Evil Dead" movies and the campy thriller "Crimewave" between 1979 and 1987.
