Filmmaker Sam Raimi created a cult classic with 'Evil Dead,' his 1981 gory slasher film. Its over-the-top horror effects shocked critics and audiences but guaranteed that the movie would earn a dedicated following. Raimi went on to create two sequels. And in 2006, Raimi gave his blessing to a stage musical version that combines the story lines of all three 'Evil Dead' movies.
Like the movie, the campy gore continues with the musical, including blood sprayed out on the audience.
In a co-production between Doctuh Mistuh Productions and Salvage Vanguard Theater, Austin director Michael McKelvey brings 'Evil Dead, The Musical' to town for its Central Texas debut.
