The latest update for Evil Dead: The Game addresses several bugs that enabled cheating, including one frustrating in-game exploit.
The Evil Dead franchise is back this year not only with Evil Dead: The Game, now available, but also with new movie Evil Dead Rise, set to debut exclusively on HBO Max here in 2022.
We still don’t yet have a release date for Evil Dead Rise, but it’s interesting to note that the very first footage from the movie was just shown off during a Warner Bros. Discovery upfront presentation this morning. That footage is not expected to make its way online, to be clear, but Eric Goldman over on Twitter has reported back on what he saw at the event.
Goldman tweets, “Evil Dead Rise footage in HBO Max movie montage! A possessed girl looking all Deadite-y standing up on a kitchen counter screaming at a dude.”
When you’re in charge of the evil force in Evil Dead: The Game, you’re able to take possession of things including cars and trees, and there’s a special Easter Egg found within the cabin.
Yes, you can take possession of the laughing deer head within the Knowby Cabin location, which will require a spend of 15 points. You can then spit blood onto the survivors.
Having just returned from his post-production, executive producer duties on the upcoming 'Evil Dead Rise,' the horror icon also teases the HBO Max film due out this year

We’re just a week away from the May 13th release of Evil Dead: The Game, which will allow players to battle the forces of evil as characters like franchise hero Ash Williams, Ash vs. Evil Dead‘s Pablo and Kelly, Lord Arthur from Army of Darkness, Cheryl and Scott from the original The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II‘s Annie Knowby and Ed Getley, and Ash vs. Evil Dead‘s Amanda Fisher, among others. This year marks the return of the Evil Dead franchise, with brand new movie Evil Dead Rise set to debut exclusively on HBO Max here in 2022. We don’t yet have a release date at this time, but we expect it won’t be much longer now. While we wait, producer Sam Raimi sat down with Slash Film this week to tease the upcoming movie, which he calls “terrifying.”
“I’ve seen a rough cut, a medium fine cut, and a fine cut. There’s probably a few changes that [director] Lee Cronin is making that I haven’t seen, but it’s great,” Raimi tells Slash Film.
He adds, “It’s terrifying and it’s going to knock people’s socks off.”
