Simon Thompson writes:

The first season of Creepshow was a monster hit for AMC’s horror streamer, Shudder.

Becoming the most-watched program in the platform’s history, it smashed several records in terms of viewership, total minutes streamed, and new subscriber sign-ups. The show’s second season is about to drop, and a third has already been confirmed.

I caught up with horror legend and Creepshow’s showrunner, Greg Nicotero, to discuss the show’s killer formula for success, paying tribute to iconic multimillion-dollar franchises and what stands in the way of a new Creepshow movie.

Sam Raimi-Produced, Jeffrey Dean Morgan-Starring Horror Movie ‘The Unholy’ Dated for Release

The Screen Gems horror movie The Unholy (formerly titled Shrine) has been dated for release by Sony today, the Sam Raimi-produced film arriving in theaters on April 2, 2021.

Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote/directed The Unholy, which has a cast including Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Cricket Brown, Diogo Morgado and Cary Elwes.

“The Unholy follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. When terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.”

The film is based on James Herbert’s novel Shrine, published in 1983.

Raimi and Rob Tapert produce for Ghost House Pictures.
