Internet User Orders College Textbooks and Gets a Necronomicon Instead

Ordering online can sometimes lead to unexpected results. Such was the case when Imgur user Cinemageddon placed an order for some college textbooks and got a different kind of educational tool instead: a replica of the Necronomicon from Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead films. Luckily, Cinemageddon has a bit of a sense of humor about the whole situation, cracking jokes in the comments.

Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn™ is an Escape Room for Fans, by fans

Seth Wolfson writes:

Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn™ has been one of my favorite movies since a much younger and well coifed me walked through the doors of my local movie house to see it for the first time in 1987. In it, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and everyone involved managed to elevate schlock to high art, over acting to over achieving, and it reinforced for that younger me (leather Jacket, Travolta Hair, Wallet on a chain – you get the idea) that a good scare and a good laugh need not be two different things. In my career in animatronics and sculpting, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn™ has served as a constant source of inspiration, and ever since I opened Hourglass Escapes, it has been a goal of mine to create an escape room based around the movie. The day we got the license was a big one for our small company, but it was also a big one for me, personally.

Then came the dread, and not the kind that comes from when you realize you’ve accidentally booked into a haunted AirBnB – I mean, you really should have known from the description: A cabin in the woods? One bridge in and out? And why would the owner, someone named Professor Knowby, list “creepy cellar” as the cabin’s main feature? Anyway, the kind of dread I was experiencing was the pressure in knowing that I suddenly had the responsibility, not only to other fans of the movie, but also to myself, to make an escape room worthy of Raimi’s and Campbell’s genius.

The hard work was just beginning.

Bruce Campbell on the Extraordinary Tales Coming to 'Ripley's Believe It or Not!' Reboot

Interview Excerpt:

It’s been a year since Ash vs. Evil Dead has left our screens. Do you think we will see another incarnation or installment within the Evil Dead universe, with or without Ash?

We’ll see more Evil Dead, that’s for sure. There is an Evil Dead video game out. A fully immersive video game probably within a year. I’m not sure about the day. There will be variations of that. There won’t be the original Ash anymore. That guy is done.

Bruce Campbell Calls Hosting ‘Ripley’s Believe It Or Not’ A ‘No-Brainer,’ Pans Hollywood’s Lack Of Originality

Interview excerpt:

KT: I’m excited to see you’ve got the paperback for ‘Hail to the Chin’ coming out; I was a big fan of ‘If Chins Could Kill.’ Although when you were teasing that on social media, I think a couple of fans interpreted that as a little bit of foreshadowing of a new gig for Ash.

BC: That’s fine. Fans are always going to do that. Everyone’s a genius, everyone’s got opinions and the internet fans the flames. No, it’s all good. They’re going to see different versions, they’re going to be seeing more ‘Evil Dead,’ too. We’re not done with the ‘Evil Dead’ saga, more stories to tell.

“Requiem for Ash Edition” of Bruce Campbell’s Book ‘Hail to the Chin’ Coming in September!

Bruce Campbell has been teasing that something Evil Dead-related is headed our way in September, and one of our guesses was that he was referring to a new book he’s been working on, which looks to have been confirmed by an Amazon listing. Brought to our attention by reader Kevin Schreckengost, Amazon is listing a new Campbell-penned book for… September!

It’s actually a new edition of Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor, dubbed the “Requiem for Ash Edition” in reference to Campbell’s Evil Dead retirement.

Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi Spoke About That “September” Tease at Texas Frightmare…

From bloody-disgusting.com:

We launched into this past weekend with a mysterious tweet from Bruce Campbell, which teased that *something* Evil Dead-related is coming this September. Our speculation is that Campbell was either talking about A) a new Evil Dead video game, B) the addition of Ash to Mortal Kombat 11, or C) the new book that he’s currently working on writing.

Then again, he very well could have been teasing something else entirely. All we know for sure is that Campbell is not playing Ash anymore in the world of live action… right?

Over the weekend, Campbell and Sam Raimi took part in a Q&A at Texas Frightmare Weekend, and Reddit’s Girafarigno brings us some interesting notes from the panel.

Bruce confirmed that this and himself have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat 11,” the Reddit user reported, seeming to confirm that Campbell’s Twitter tease has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat 11 DLC content. Again, Ash Williams has been rumored as an upcoming DLC fighter but not yet confirmed, so it’s possible that rumor wasn’t even true anyway.

UPDATE: Campbell shot down the MK 11 rumor entirely over on Twitter today.

Bruce Campbell Just Dropped a Mysterious “September” Tease on Twitter So Start Speculating

Over on Twitter this afternoon, Bruce Campbell kicked the ole Speculation Machine (it’s a real thing, I swear) into high gear with what appears to be some kind of teaser for some kind of project of, well, some kind. It’s entirely possible it’s really nothing and he’s just messing with us, but Campbell tweeted out a stylized image of Ash Williams with the text “September…“.
