Interview with Dead by Daylight Creative and Game Directors Dave Richard and Matthew Côté About the Addition of Ash from Ash Vs. Evil Dead

Lara Makrianis writes:

It wasn’t expected for Dead by Daylight to bring in something new so soon right after they had their recent chapter update of “Demise of the Faithful”. But out on the expo floor at PAX East, there was the large centerpiece of Dead by Daylight and several computers set up. A campsite like in the lobby of the game, and the all too familiar face of Bruce Campbell as Ash from Ash Vs. Evil Dead. Because that’s who’s coming to the game.

I was able to sit down at the lobby campfire and talk with Behavior Interactive’s Creative Director Dave Richard and Game Director Matthew Côté to learn more about the character coming to the game.

Campy fan favorite Bruce Campbell to visit San Antonio for a special movie screening

"Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up!"

Cult-classic and camp darling Bruce Campbell will be visiting San Antonio on October 25 for a special screening of "Army of Darkness," and a Q&A conversation with fans at the Aztec Theater.

Tickets are now on sale starting at $29.50 through the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

The 1992 Sam Raimi movie has a huge underground following with both film buffs and horror flick aficionados.

The movie caps the cult-classic trilogy that began with "Evil Dead," and "Evil Dead II." And as any fan will tell you, the series is a treasure trove of one liners and off the wall dialogue made ready to spice up any conversation.

Most of those memorable lines were delivered by Campbell as the exemplary character, Ash.

‘Evil Dead’s’ Ash Coming to ‘Dead by Daylight’ Voiced by Bruce Campbell

Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) from Starz “Ash vs Evil Dead” is coming to Behaviour’s horror-survival game “Dead By Daylight,” the company announced Thursday.

Williams, who will be voiced by Bruce Campbell, will arrive as a new survivor in the game on April 2. The developers describe the in-game character as the “blowhard heroic monster fighter” and say he will be available as downloadable content that will include the character and perks on Windows PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The game, complete with Ash, will be playable at PAX East Thursday through Sunday at the “Dead By Daylight” booth.

The developer also announced that it is teaming up with Amazon to bring the company’s GameOn Tournament Organizer service to the game.

The Twitch extension allows streamers to invite their community to join them in impromptu casual competitions accessed from within the game. The GameOn integration is currently in beta with 50 of the game’s more actively engaged streamers.

Ash is just the latest in a long string of new survivors and killers added to “Dead by Daylight” since its release in 2016. Ash brings the total number of playable survivors to 17. The goal of the survivors is to escape their enclosure while being hunted by a player-controlled killer. The survivors and killers can load-out up to four perks to help with their hunt or survival.

The game’s killers are a mix of original monsters and maniacs drawn from common mythology and urban legend, and some pulled from popular culture and movies including “Halloween,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” and “Saw.”

‘Dead by Daylight’ Receiving Evil Dead DLC?

With today’s Demise of the Faithful update for Behaviour Interactive’s Dead By Daylight, some fans have noticed that with a number of the new perks in the Kill Your Friends game mode, they point towards everyone’s favourite chainsaw-wielding hero possibly being in the game at some point.

Along with a new killer in Plague, a new survivor in Jane Romero, and a new map, new perks include “Mettle of Man”, “Buckle Up” and “Flip-Flop”, all of which are labelled “Ashley J. Williams Perk”. The perks themselves are rare, but any fan of the Evil Dead series knows that Ash says these as part of his one-liners throughout the series.

The perks were found in the PS4 version of the game, and appear to have been left in accidentally by the update. Behaviour Interactive hasn’t commented on any of this (yet), nor have they issued a hotfix for the PS4 version.

It wouldn’t be much of a stretch for Dead By Daylight to include Ash, since the game already has the likes of Leatherface, Freddy and Michael Myers, alongside Laurie Strode as one of the survivors.

Gillian Greene dishes on “Fanboy”, “Yankees Suck”, and how her kids became extras

Gillian Greene didn’t always think she’d be a director. Or an actor for that matter. But between her father, Lorne Greene, and husband, Sam Raimi, things took a turn — or more of a “curve ball” as she’d call it.

Greene is just getting started on the path to mainstream film success with her latest flick, “Fanboy” — about a video store employee who heads to Hollywood when he finds out his favorite director is auditioning for the film — set for release on March 22. Grit Daily spoke with Greene unpack for her own inspiration into film, and what else is brewing in her directorial cauldron.
