Trapped In Time. Surrounded By Evil. Low On Gas. Bound in human flesh and inked in blood, the ancient "Necronomicon" – the Book of the Dead – unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's (Darkman, Drag Me to Hell) outrageously hilarious third chapter in his Evil Dead Trilogy.

Back to do battle with the hideous "Deadites," Bruce Campbell returns to the role of Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk from S-Mart's housewares division. Demonic forces time warp him – and his '73 Oldsmobile – into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty (Embeth Davidtz, The Amazing Spider-Man) and faces legions of the undead. Can Ash save the living from the evil dead, rescue his girlfriend, and get back to his own time?

REPTILE ROOMIE

When a bearded dragon offers advice during a drug-fueled dream-state, you better take it. Ash Williams’ (Bruce Campbell) advisor and pet lizard, Eli (pictured), told him to bury the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis at the cabin – rather than keeping it locked in his trailer. Eli debuts in the first episode of Ash vs Evil Dead and remains a constant presence throughout the series – and now Eli is ready to go home with an Evil Dead fan (no Deadites, please). VIP Fan Auctions is offering the screen-used prop version of Eli, a 12.5-in. rubber bearded dragon that appears in multiple episodes. Click here for photos and more information, and get in the bidding for one of horror’s most beloved lizards that has never stomped through Tokyo.

PopWrapped: Jane Levy Tells Us About Her Character In Castle Rock And If She Would Return To Evil Dead

Excerpt:

One of Levy’s most popular projects thus far has been the 2013 reboot of the insanely popular Evil Dead and fans have made it known they hope to see it continue one day. So what does Levy think of all the Evil Dead sequel talk? She tells us, “I’d be interested. It’s funny, with the Evil Dead creators - nobody can rile a crowd like they do. They really know how to keep that hype going.” The Castle Rock star continues, “I have an Instagram, and did one of those ‘ask me anythings’ and literally every question asked was ‘Will you do Evil Dead 2’ but it’s good because people really like it.”

As far as Levy’s representation in horror, she explains that each project has created a different atmosphere, saying, “It just seems like [horror] is where I’m gonna go [laughs]. Evil Dead was the most extreme, then there was Don’t Breathe which was much more psychological suspense and Castle Rock is more small town mystery.” She concludes, “Through working on horror, I’ve definitely become a fan of [the genre] myself.”

Missing the Jim and Pam of Horror

The parallels between the goals relationship of Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) from The Office and Ash vs Evil Dead’s Kelly Maxwell (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo Simon Bolivar (Ray Santiago) are staggering.

Both had their fair share of flirtation and near misses, laughs, jealousies, and tender moments, and it even took both couples three years to realize that they were perfect for one another.

Ash Battles Ghost Pirates in Dynamite’s ‘Army of Darkness’ Halloween Special Comic Book

From bloody-disgusting.com:

Dynamite Entertainment is taking Halloween by storm this year, delivering five standalone issues from fan-favorite series’ Vampirella, Red Sonja, Bettie Page, Elvira and Army of Darkness! Each Halloween Special will feature 40 pages of hair-raising fun.

“Halloween and comic books go hand in hand. Everyone loves a good scary story in late October and we’ve always wanted to do a big program for all our major characters,” said Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment. “This is a great chance for readers to get five great stories for themselves or to give to their friends for the holiday.”

In the Army of Darkness Halloween Special…

“When a crazed tour guide raises the spectral remains of the galleon that brought the Necronomicon to America, Ash finally meets the one thing he hates more than Deadites – ghost pirates! It’s chainsaws and boomsticks against cutlasses and muskets, and if Blackbeard’s men can’t have their treasure, the Promised One’s head will have to do!”

The Dynamite Halloween One-Shots will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ August 2018 Previews catalog and slated for release in October 2018.

Grey Matter Art’s New ‘Army of Darkness’ Poster is Ripped Straight Out of the Necronomicon

This Thursday, Grey Matter Art presents a brand spankin’ new Army of Darkness poster, which comes courtesy of artist Anthony Petrie. The poster, rather brilliantly, is made to look like a page ripped out of the infamous Book of the Dead!

We were absolutely blown away by Anthony’s concept to make this look like a page taken right from the Necronomicon, and we thought this would be a perfect follow up to his Evil Dead 2!” the company tells us. “Also, we will be inserting 9″ x 12″ original drawings by Anthony into random orders. To be eligible, you must purchase on the day of the sale.”

The 24″ x 36″ hand-numbered screen prints will be selling for $45.00 each, and only 225 of them will be offered up this coming Thursday, July 12 at 1pm EST.

You’ll be able to grab yours over on Grey Matter’s website.

Sons of the Evil Dead

Rebecca Reynolds Writes About Sibling Writer/Directors, Brett and Drew Pierce, Following Completion of Their New Indie Horror Film, Hag

LA-based filmmaking brothers, Brett and Drew Pierce, recently completed principal photography on their latest indie horror film, Hag. A modern twist on the classic witch genre, Hag is their third feature and the second one the brothers co-wrote and co-directed. Scheduled for a 2019 release, Hag stars Disney Channel veteran Piper Curda, Here and Now’s Kevin Bigley, Jane the Virgin’s Azie Tesfai and John-Paul Howard from Midnight, Texas.

How the Pierce brothers became die-hard aficionados of the horror genre and how they developed their filmmaking chops is a simple case of “Like Father, Like Son(s).”

Their father, Bart Pierce, started making films when he was twelve, shooting short stop-motion movies after borrowing his brother’s 8mm camera. A huge fan of monster magazines, vampires, and King Kong, Pierce continued honing his skills, particularly special effects photography. By his twenties, Pierce started getting film work doing color timing and processing in Detroit, which is where he met other budding young filmmakers including A-list director Sam Raimi, Editor Chris Innis, and Producer Rob Tapert. All of them, including Pierce, were trying to make horror films. Raimi’s team, including his college buddy, Actor Bruce Campbell, secured funds for their film first. The title was The Evil Dead. Shot in 1979 and released in 1981, the horror film became a cult classic, setting all those involved on successful filmmaking careers and spawning a lucrative, 30-years long media franchise.

The Ladies of the Evil Dead: Life After Dead unused documentary promo trailer

Info:
Here is a trailer for a documentary that was never finished but, some of the footage was used for a supplement on one of the various re-re-re-re-re-releases of The Evil Dead by Anchor Bay. It was a quickly cut, gritty trailer of stuff I shot to assemble a doc on The Rise of the Ladies of the Evil Dead. Apparently Evil Dead producer, Rob Tapert, saw this and liked it a lot. We also get a cameo from the late, great, Gunnar Hansen... RIP. It would have featured Gunnar, Bruce Campbell, Scott Spiegel and more! I wanted to call it "The Ladies of the Evil Dead: Life After Dead."

Music by Cyndi Lauper borrowed and not used for sales... just promotion only as I don't own the rights of the song and clips from Evil Dead used with permission.

From ‘Evil Dead’ to ‘John Wick,’ Lionsgate Looks to Tap Rich Library With Mobile Shooter (EXCLUSIVE)

Mobile shooter “Deploy and Destroy” received a major update today enabling tournament play for the game and giving players a sense of just how big Lionsgate thinks the franchise-mashing game could become.

The update’s new competitive mode disables auto-aim and bot in the game and makes all weapons available to the characters playable in the tournament. The first tournament will focus on the “Ash vs. Evil Dead” IP, though the game also currently includes characters from The “Divergent” series.

While the game currently only has characters from two Lionsgate properties, the plan is to dive into the entertainment companies massive library of hit titles like “John Wick” and “Saw,” Peter Levin, president of interactive ventures, games and digital strategies at Lionsgate, told Variety.

We spend a lot of time meeting with talented developers from all over the world who are passionate about our movies and TV shows,” Levin said. Developer “Apps Ministry are huge fans of “The Divergent Series,” and that’s where the conversation about “Deploy and Destroy” started. As we got into the early stages of development, we realized the design and mechanics in front of us could make for a super fun mashup of fan-favorite IP — imagine John Wick and Rambo fighting in an arena modeled after the cabin from “Ash vs Evil Dead,” for instance. If memory serves, this idea popped into our minds during a late-night play session between our team and Apps Ministry. We pivoted directions, developed the concept for a multiverse, and quickly put in place the legal and design infrastructure to do this.”
