Bruce Campbell talks going Dutch on ‘Fargo’

Auckland, New Zealand — Before Bruce Campbell headed to the South Pacific last month to start filming “Ash vs Evil Dead” with high school pal and Hollywood director Sam Raimi, he dropped by Canada to shoot “Fargo” — yet another gig that can be traced back to Campbell’s teenage years.

Campbell, 56, is playing pre-POTUS Ronald Reagan in season two of the FX anthology series.

“Another one of our high school buddies, John Cameron, is producing that,” Campbell said about “Fargo,” whose freshman season netted both an Emmy and Golden Globe last year for best miniseries. “All our buddies are getting highfalutin.”

Campbell talked briefly about his upcoming turn as the Gipper during a break in filming earlier this month on the New Zealand set of “Ash vs Evil Dead,” a new Starz series that will bring “The Evil Dead” franchise to the small screen. (Much more on that later.)

The author of the 2001 bestseller If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor got his start playing the dim-but-dashing lead in the early ’80s horror film written and directed by Raimi. Both of them graduated from suburban Detroit’s Groves High School. So did Cameron. The “Fargo” producer was a so-called “fake Shemp” stand-in for one of the actors in the low-budget flick whose credits include Joel Coen as assistant editor. Joel and brother Ethan would go on to make the “Fargo” film that inspired the FX series by the same name.

Groovy! Bruce Campbell Stars In Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare's Third DLC

Activision and Sledgehammer Games have announced details on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's latest DLC pack, Supremacy. It includes a quartet of new multiplayer maps set across the globe, as well as more content for the game's Exo Zombies mode – starring the one and only Bruce Campbell.

The Supremacy DLC is coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 on June 2 for $14.99. It's a timed exclusive, and if past DLC is any indication, it should be arriving on other platforms about a month later.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Photo Promises a Very Bloody TV Show

With production announced towards the end of last month, we haven't heard or seen much from the set of Ash Vs. Evil Dead since it started shooting! But that doesn't mean the production on the pilot, which is being directed by franchise creator Sam Raimi, isn't flying along smoothly. One thing we can expect is a lot of blood. Oceans of it. Perhaps even more than witnessed in the blood rain scene at the end of the 2013 Evil Dead (which wasn't a remake or reboot, but will actually, at some point, tie into this new Starz series). Always an active presence on Twitter, star Bruce Campbell showed off one of his most important work tools: His portable blood kit!

Interview: Frank Hannah on Board with “Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead By Dawn”

Interview excerpt:

CB: Tell us about the first three “Evil Dead 2” miniseries, as best you can.

Hannah: The first mini-series, “Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead By Dawn” in June will really set up the book and the lead characters Ash and Annie. They will go from scrambling around to finding a sense of purpose despite their current circumstances. Beyond that, we will see self-contained stories that expand the story and raise the stakes for the characters. There’s going to be a human cost to the work they do and that will weigh heavily on Annie. In the third mini-series I would like to see how Annie handles the fact that more people than she’s probably aware of are being manipulated by this ancient evil and the subtlety of that will bring about huge moral dilemmas.
