Fede Alvarez Still Attached to EVIL DEAD 2; Says the Priority Is ARMY OF DARKNESS 2

Yesterday, we reported that, according to Evil Dead writer Rodo Sayagues, he and director/co-writer Fede Alvarez would not return for Evil Dead 2, and had been off the project for months.  Alvarez took to Twitter to explain that people shouldn’t believe everything they read on the Internet, and also told Bloody Disgusting that this was a matter of an interview getting lost in translation.  “Rodo meant we’re not actually making Evil Dead 2 right now because the priority is Sam [Raimi's] Army of Darkness 2,” says Alvarez.  “But the plan of making a sequel to our Evil Dead is very much alive.”

Director/co-writer Fede Alvarez leaves Evil Dead 2

Director Fede Alvarez and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues have left Evil Dead 2, the upcoming sequel to this year’s remake of the classic Sam Raimi film. At the premiere of Evil Dead in March, Alvarez had announced that work was starting on Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness 2. Lately, it seems only Army of Darkness 2 has been gaining momentum, instead. Alvarez spoke to a television station in Uruguay:

"Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project."

Sam Raimi Confirmed To Direct 'Army of Darkness 2'!

When it comes to Sam Raimi, it wouldn’t have surprised me at all if he let a new up-and-comer get behind the camera for Army of Darkness 2. And while we’ve never doubted that he was going to direct the follow-up to his 1992 Evil Dead sequel, it’s nice to see some solid confirmation in writing.

Fede Alvarez, who directed this year’s Evil Dead remake, was asked on Twitter if he would be directing Army of Darkness 2. Alvarez, who is currently writing Evil Dead 2 with Rodo Sayagues, responded with confirmation that Raimi will be taking the helm!

Partial Video: Bruce Campbell Q&A Seattle Cinerama 10-25-2013

Almost 15 minutes of the hour long Q&A before a screening of "Army of Darkness". I think I got most of the really funny stuff but all of it was great. This includes the 15 yr old filmmaker, the female Ash, Evil Dead the musical, injuries acquired during filming AoD, Spiderman, surviving in California, etc. What a delightfully witty man, I haven't laughed that hard in ages. Thanks for the therapy Bruce!

Bruce Campbell Confirms He Will Do Army Of Darkness Sequel

For several months, there have been reports that Sam Raimi has been working on Army Of Darkness 2. However, it’s been a little less clear if Bruce Campbell would do a sequel. As far as we can tell, he’s never given a definitive answer before as to if he would definitely be on board for a sequel.
At the Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on Friday, Campbell was asked by a fan, “Are you going to make a sequel to Army of Darkness?”

“The last one was twenty-two years ago,” replied Campbell. “I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.”

When the fan told him a lot of people would want to see it, Campbell said, “Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.”

Then Campbell got more serious, and he added, “Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

So there you have it. The answer is yes. Bruce Campbell is going to do an Army of Darkness sequel.

Car From Army of Darkness Made in GMod

Info:
I recreated the modified Oldsmobile Delta 88 from the 1992 film Army of Darkness aka Evil Dead 3 in Garry's Mod. I do not claim any ownership to the file Army of Darkness, or the Evil dead series. Both are are owned by Sam Raimi who wrote, directed, and profuced them.
The clip from the film here is not for entertainment purposes but simply to show how the vehicle I recreated resembles the one in the film. It's like free advertising for the movie because if anyone sees the clip and this car I made, they will very like pay to see the whole movie somewhere, so please don't mark it as copyright infringement.

The Hollywood Reporter - An Oral History of 'Evil Dead 2': 'We Were Like 'Jackass' With Plot'

Schlocky? Check. Scary? Very. But Sam Raimi's 1987 film had a sense of humor never before seen in the genre that set the director, then 27 and in "filmmaker's jail" with his collective, onto an A-list trajectory. Star Bruce Campbell, writer Scott Spiegel, producer Rob Tapert and more reveal the backstory of how their desperation forged a cult classic.

FEARnet: Exclusive Interview: Horror Actor Ted Raimi Preparing for His Top-Secret Feature Directing Debut

Tim Lammers writes:
Veteran horror actor Ted Raimi is about to follow in the footsteps of his big brother Sam (whom you all know as the godfather of the Evil Dead franchise and now an A-list Hollywood director), and go behind the camera to write and direct his own first feature film. In an interview at Crypticon Minneapolis last weekend, Ted told me he will be shooting the film "early next year."

"It's a supernatural horror tale about Los Angeles itself," Raimi revealed. "Not enough horror has been told about that city. People seem enamored about it who live there, but I don't know why. I find it completely upsetting and terrifying, so I thought, 'What better place to set a horror movie?'"

While Raimi, 47, couldn't divulge the title of the film or any other vital details, he did note that he will make a cameo appearance: "I'll have a small part in it, just for the fans who want to see me in it," he said... and hinted that fans shouldn't be surprised if a certain Raimi by the name of Sam turns up in the film.
