Sam Raimi should direct GHOSTBUSTERS 3

Matt Holmes writes:
Raimi could bring a deeper edge to the Ghostbusters horror/comedy franchise with bigger set pieces, a creepy atmospheric and flurid state of dread that would be well suited to what we know the series. The humour of the original cast and the directing sensibilities of Raimi, seems on paper to be a good match.

THE MAN BEHIND THE CHIN: BRUCE CAMPBELL

Mackenzie Lambert writes:
There may be a sense among moviegoers that actors are born into their superstar status. A number of people think that George Clooney did nothing before ER. However, hiding in the back of his career closet is a Killer Tomatoes sequel and Return To Horror High. And although many actors seek to escape their low-budget roots, there’s one who not has not only remained in b-cinema, but -- to many -- has come to define it. He is Bruce Campbell.

Featured eBay Item: EVIL DEAD MEDALLION - RARE RESIN MODEL PLAQUE

Do you love all things Evil and Dead? Cinema Art Models did when they created this piece. It's their garage kit tribute to "Army of Darkess," Sam Raimi's final installment in his notorious "Evil Dead" trilogy.
Released a decade and a half ago, CAM's Evil Dead Medallion is a 3 1/2" round relief sculpt featuring one of the film's more hideous Dead - perfectly captured in gruesome detail. The movie's title wraps around both sides of the Deadite, just in case you didn't know what film he's from. Crisply cast in solid off-white resin as one piece, the model is designed to be realistically painted and displayed as a plaque, or finished in a metallic coloration and hung around the neck.
Resin treasure rarely resurrected these days, CAM's Evil dead Medallion comes complete with its full-color box, and all original paperwork. When it comes to The Dead, the Eviler the better!

Why the bloody, sexy Spartacus was renewed before it premiered

Kathie Huddleston writes:
The upcoming 300-meets-Gladiator-esque Spartacus: Blood and Sand promises plenty of graphic violence, nudity, sex and now something else ... a second season. Spartacus, which is due to premiere on Friday, Jan. 22, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, has already been renewed for a second season, which will be titled Spartacus: Vengeance.
The series stars Australian newcomer Andy Whitfield as Spartacus, a Thracian who is fighting for the return of his wife after he is sold into slavery at a gladiator school. Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) plays the scheming Lucretia, and John Hannah (The Mummy) is her power-hungry husband, Batiatus. Peter Mensah (300) is the Doctore, the head of the gladiator school. The series is from executive producers Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Joshua Donen and Steven S. DeKnight (Buffy).

Holiday Ash from Army of Darkness Review

Christmas in Hollywood continues as we draw even closer to the big day. Right now I'm taking a look at a really cool figure, this is an exclusive Holiday version of Ash from Palisades Toys Army of Darkness line. They made this figure a few years ago as an exclusive just for friends and retailers of Palisades Toys.

Palisades Toys' Army of Darkness line was probably one of most mishandled lines of the forgotten company, but say what you will about how they handled the line itself Palisades was a great toy company. Inventive little incentives like this really made the company's connection with it's fans so nice. It's a shame that Palisades went bust. But enough of that sadness, let's look at this festive Ash Williams!

Bach Keh Zara: Bollywood Remake of The Evil Dead

Evil Dead News posted a YouTube clip of this movie back in October. You can now watch the whole movie here. Special thanks to moviesfromindia.com
Unlike many horror movies which take time to build up, “Bach Keh Zara” grabs you by the throat with its credits itself. After an announcer repeats multiple times that the events and characters are fictitious and have no intentional resemblance to anyone living or dead (even though every scene has a resemblance to Sam Raimi’s, (a long lost cousin of the Ra(i)m(i)says), “Evil Dead”, the opening song (or should I say chant) begins, making the hair stand on the back of my neck and Wordsworth sit up in his grave, his head turning like a top.

Starz Renewing Spartacus: Blood and Sand for a Second Season

In a bold vote of confidence, Starz executives announced plans today to order a second season of the ground-breaking new original series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, set to premiere Friday, January 22nd at 10 pm ET/PT. The unusual timing of the renewal, more than one month prior to the debut of the highly anticipated program, gives returning executive producers Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Joshua Donen and Steven S. DeKnight (who is also the head writer on the show) the green light to start production in New Zealand on 13 new episodes in the first quarter of 2010.

"Steven S. DeKnight and his team of writers have created a rich narrative that lays the groundwork for more great stories," added Executive Producer Rob Tapert. "The slave rebellion led by Spartacus and the oh-so-current political intrigue and personal dynamics laid out in the first season provide rich source material for the second season and beyond."
Spartacus: Blood and Sand features Australian newcomer Andy Whitfield as the title character, a Thracian fighting to return to his wife after being sold into slavery at a gladiatorial school. He is joined by Lucy LawlessXena: Warrior Princess, Battlestar: Galactica) as the deceptive Lucretia, John Hannah (The Mummy movies) as her power-hungry husband Batiatus, Peter Mensah (300) as the head of the gladiatorial school, Doctore, along with a cast of familiar as well as fresh faces.

Chainsaw Good

Chainsaws - TV and Movies

Basically, chainsaws are good. Good here having the meaning of "totally unstoppable weapons of mass destruction." Nothing can stand before their roaring, multi-toothed might; only death awaits any who challenge a chainsaw-wielding maniac.

A favorite tool of horror villains and zombie hunters alike. The reason for its coolness lies in its drawbacks. It is very dangerous, it weighs quite a bit, makes a lot of noise, and will tear through anything it touches even if it's the person wielding it. Oh, and the angular momentum of the spinning chain makes it a bit unpredictable, too.

Killing Floor:

Look at this! I’m chainsawing a battle between a flamethrower and an an undead cyborg! WHY AREN’T YOU PLAYING THIS?

Left 4 Dead 2:

CHAINSAAAAAAWS!
There’s a bunch of other stuff too, but honestly: who cares. All that matters is six cylinders of Evil-Dead-annihilating action hardware, and the inevitable awesome nod to Ash from the awesome Valve writers. Besides, you can tell an awful lot about the game from that one critical item.

The chainsaw is a noble tool. Direct, unpretentious, yet capable of invoking nigh-incandescant spectacles of bodily deconstruction, it is the choice of the true artist.

Josh Becker's Going Hollywood Now Available

Product Description:
Before Josh Becker made movies with some of the past giants of the silver screen like Anthony Quinn, Josh grew up making movies with some of the current giants of the silver screen, namely his childhood buddies Sam Raimi (of Spider-Man fame) and B-movie legend Bruce Campbell. Today Josh is a well respected film and tv director-writer, and the author of two other books. When he left his home in Michigan in 1976 at the age of 17 and moved to Hollywood, all he knew was that he was pursuing his dream - to be in the film business. Arriving, he found that dreams don't always work out like they do up on the silver screen. Gaining a foothold in this notoriously difficult line of work requires as much passion, luck and ambition as it does frustration, heartbreak and folly. GOING HOLLYWOOD is the true story of a driven young man willing to go to the ends of the earth in order to fulfill his dreams.

Holiday Gift Idea: the 'Evil Dead' Musical Original Recording

Yes, there was an Evil Dead: The Musical. And incidentally, if you missed the off-broadway production, you too can purchase a North American license and put the show on yourself! (See www.evildeadthemusical.com for more information)

Barring a capacity (not to mention the financial resources) to mount a full-fledged musical production yourself, why not sit back in your comfy chair and enjoy timeless, classic tunes like ‘What the F**k Was That?,’ ‘Good...Bad...I’m The Guy With The Gun’ and ‘Boomstick’?! You can even sample the toe tapping tunes on Amazon before you buy.

Sure, the Amazon reviewers who reveal that the NYC production was to die for (imagine blood splatter in the first several rows) manage to put a damper on the prospect of merely humming along to a canned recording, but it’s better than nothing.

The Terrible Day I Met Bruce Campbell

Josh Hanagarne writes:
First of all, Bruce Campbell shares no blame for the wretched events which I am about to relate to you. I still associate him with feelings of frustration, dread, chills, and self-loathing, but those are my issues.

This mournful tale starts on a sunny day in Salt Lake City, several years ago. By the time the day ended, I had learned the profound depths of my own lameness and become a firm believer in out-of-body experiences.
