Rest In Peace Julius Carry

According to several sources including BET, Julius Carry - probably best known for his cult role as Sho’Nuff in the greatest film ever made, ever, The Last Dragon - died from complications related to pancreatic cancer on Tuesday.

He was a fantastic character actor who appeared in a ton of sit-coms and television shows, my personal favorite being his role as Lord Bowler in The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

Tom Cruise and Sam Raimi Working Together on Sleeper?!

Yep it's true. Sam Raimi is producing an adaptation of Wildstorm's "Sleeper" comic book with Tom Cruise apparently "loosely attached" to star. Obviously Cruise's involvement is not set in stone, but his interest has boosted this comic book adaptation into the spotlight. The story centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery.

‘Evil Dead 4’ Won’t Rely On Younger Sidekick, Says Bruce Campbell

Two weeks ago, director Sam Raimi shocked Comic-Con with a declaration that “Evil Dead” would rise again. So when can we start salivating with anticipation?

“When he’s ready, I’m ready,” star Bruce Campbell told MTV News.

While nothing remains written or planned, Campbell and Raimi have actually discussed the long-anticipated movie at length, the man with the million dollar chin insisted, saying that they already have a basic idea of where to take Ash, the poor S-Mart clerk who’s already narrowly survived three adventures - the last of which, “Army of Darkness,” got released in 1992.

Part of that plan, naturally, involves accounting for the fact that the last “Evil Dead” movie got released in 1992.

“Sam gets to hide behind the camera. I can’t. But I think he’s planning on factoring that in,” Campbell revealed. “As like a major factor. It’d be a major liability, you know Ash runs out of breath or his back goes out and [stuff] like that. I mean I just blew my hamstring fighting a stunt guy for ‘Burn Notice,’ the show that I’m doing now. So there’s a little bit of truth to all of that!”

An older Ash? Why not, Campbell asked, especially given that this has truly been the year of the aging action star, what with movies like “Live Free or Die Hard” and “Indiana Jones” showcasing senior citizen commandos.

About those two movies though while we’re talking about them – you know those annoying characters played by Shia LaBeouf and Justin Long? The young sidekick character? Yeah, not so much gonna happen in “Evil Dead,” Campbell declared.

“I think the audience would be insulted if you did, because then you feel this obvious pressure to appeal,” he said. “The beauty of the ‘Evil Dead’ movies is that you’re only appealing to one demographic and that’s people who like horror movies. And you just have to please them. You don’t have to appeal to the studio. You’re already pleasing them by giving them part 4.”

Of course, for all his declarations, everything is just “smoke and mirrors at this point,” the actor said jokingly. But is there anything definitive he can tell us about “Evil Dead 4”?

“Nobody knows anything,” he said. “I mean if we were really smart [though], we’d go back to a handheld movie and shoot it in 16mm and find someplace in the middle of nowhere. And have a crew of 10 people. If we were smart.”

No Clear and Present Danger

You know how Paramount's theoretically developing a new Jack Ryan film with Sam Raimi? Well, someone forgot to get that in writing - and as of today, Raimi isn't officially attached to anything.

‘'Paramount doesn't have a deal with Raimi'', a reliable insider told us this morning.

Yep, no deal. The-home-of-the-Forrest-Gump-bench were quick to alert the trades that the "Spider-Man" director had been snapped up to bring the young analyst back to the screen, but not as quick to actually contract him to something. Obviously there's been conversations, and maybe even some kind of verbal agreement, but Raimi isn't bound to the film at all.

Bruce Campbell | 50 Stand Out Celebrity Body Parts

Body Part: Chin

Abnormality: Awesome

Effect: It's strange how such a particular body part can become so iconic for a person. Certainly you can think of many, many actors who have become famous for their eyes, their legs or the more -uh -shapely parts of the human anatomy.

We can't think of anybody but Campbell, though, who has become so identified with an extraordinary chin that just always seems to be begging to be tilted defiantly at oncoming enemies -human, superhuman, or inhuman.

B-Horror Comedies I Love Part Deux

Alien Apocalypse: This movie redefines the word cheese-fest. Its stupid, its campy, the FX are about as bad as it gets and its a must buy for fans of Bruce Cambell and the madness that is low budget scifi-horror. This is Planet of the Apes on a 15 cent budget. Its got some of the best sayings ever including the classic homophobic comments you just normally cant get away with. It also features some of the cheesiest 'epic' battle sequences ever put on film. (was it shot on film?).

Professor Barnhardt's Journal: Interview: Bruce Campbell

So you seem to have a beer in your hand in every other scene you're in. What's really in those bottles? Water? Fresca? Real beer? Whose idea was it to have you drink a lot of brews?

The "drink" thing came with the role - that's who Sam is. To do it, we use colored bottles filled with good old water. In Miami, water has more value than actual beer, so it comes in handy on hot shooting days.

I heard you hurt yourself? Are they going to write that into the show?

I injured my hamstring while shooting. We will not be writing it in, just shooting around it while I heal.
