‘Evil Dead: The Musical’

It seems these days everything is becoming a musical.
Perhaps it all started with that episode of “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” or maybe it was “Chicago” winning an Academy Award, but when a film franchise based on a dim-witted hero named Ash and his misadventures involving the fabled “Book of the Dead” inspires a stage musical, it may be cause to worry.
Fortunately, with “Evil Dead: The Musical,” this is not the case.
“Evil Dead” was first brought to the stage in Canada and has since migrated around the world, appearing in such places as New York and Seoul, South Korea.
Now, much to the treat of theatergoers, it has settled, albeit too briefly, in Kansas City at Union Station’s City Stage.
