Evil Dead 2 gets an Extended Cut in Germany

Two Limited Editions Feature Longer Version on BD

Info from www.movie-censorship.com:

Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2 is primarily known in its theatrical version. While the third film has numerous other versions out there, the second part has had a bootleg floating around that included some scenes that weren't in the movie. It's a little confusing as to whether other countries already got legal releases of that version (if you do know about it, drop us a comment, please, but it seems rather unlikely). Now, the first official release in Germany comes in two limited editions that have the film on DVD and Blu-ray in a remastered form. Also, a Blu-ray will contain this extended version which is approx. 2.5 minutes longer than the original version. Unfortunately, those additional scenes are not in HD like the rest of the movie but that shouldn't frustrate die-hard fans of the franchise.

BMV Medien and StudioCanal will release both the 25th Anniversary Edition and the Wood Edition in Germany on September 24th, 2013. They will both have an English audio track so English-speaking customers might be interested, as well. The releases are very popular among German fans so if you really consider ordering one of these editions, better make it quick.

Retro LadyLand: A dead good evening with Betsy Baker

I was so excited, Betsy Baker, the Betsy Baker, star of the original Evil Dead movie agreed to do an interview with me! But why in such a secluded spot I wondered? I couldn't find the place she mentioned on my GPS, so I had to take the directions she had given me... It wasn't exactly a main high road and the only landmark she had told me to look out for was a Chicken Shack, and I had passed that about 20 minutes ago. I was looking for a turn in the road, but this road, with only trees either side seemed to be going on forever. It didn't look too bad in the light of day, but I wouldn't want to be alone here when the sun went down.

Spartan Sagas: Rob Tapert's Former Professor Bill Vincent Talks About Filming a Cameo for Evil Dead (2013)

Bill Vincent may not be a household name. But the longtime actor, producer, writer, and English professor in Michigan State's film studies program taught—and inspired—many of today's filmmakers who are.

In fact, Sam Raimi—perhaps best known for directing the "Spider-Man" trilogy—and his longtime producing partner Rob Tapert were students of Vincent during their days as MSU film students. The pair would later enlist his help in making their first feature film, cult classic "The Evil Dead." Vincent even appeared as an extra in the film.

"I learned a lot from them," says Vincent. "Not only about how to make films but about how to make a company. That's what I'm constantly telling my students. You should make contacts now. Here, put together a team of good people and make films together and go on. If you want to do it, do it."

As a tribute to their former professor, Raimi and Tapert invited Vincent to film a cameo in June 2012 on location in New Zealand for the remake of "The Evil Dead."

It's not a typical role for a professor, but one Vincent assumed with pride.

"I think that goes along with being a teacher," says Vincent. "I think most good teachers are actors."
